Supergirl, “Worlds Finest”, Review!

The match between DC heroes is finally here! Supergirl v Flash! The epic Superman and Flash race was in Superman #199 (1967) which was paralleled in promos of the episode. Last episode was a change up with Lucy taking over the DEO, Alex goes to rescue her father, and Siobhan falling to her apparent death! Siobhan was introduced as Cat’s assistant in “Truth, Justice, and the American Way.” Siobhan is on a DEO slab recovering. She is trying to win back the goodwill of the people recently by helping a family assemble an IKEA table, lol. Winn asks for what happened with Doctor Hamilton (Sarah Robson). This may be a variation or relation to Professor Emil Hamilton, science advisor to Superman in the comics. She explains that she vaporized the pavement with high intensity scream. He tries to reconcile with Siobhan, something happens and she walks off. In a cell, Lucy interrogates Livewire. She still wants revenge on Cat Grant and Supergirl. Catco, Cat is with Kara staring at cupcakes. They take about her love life especially about James Olsen. Cat mentions her book, The Lighthouse Technique, that got her on Oprah, love it! Siobhan is walking in the street and seized with painful screams. She walks back to Catco, Winn tries talking to her, but she ignores him and knocks him away. Kara tries to stop her and Siobhan blasts her with a Banshee scream that throws her out of the window. A flash of lightning and she is saved by The Flash! He takes her to a field and Supergirl flies away. The Flash has a device on his chest logo and doesn’t recognize her. He rattles off all of the superhero names and unmasks and says, “I’m Barry Allen, the Fastest Man Alive”!
Catco, Kara is talking with Barry at her room, he checks on her computer and can’t find anyone who can help. Winn and James enter and they introduce each other. Kara says, “Barry is from another universe.” Barry goes to the white board and shows the multiverse principle, pure Flash, Winn catches on. Barry shows his powers giving them ice cream cones. He explains that it was an accident that brought him to this Earth. Barry says he needs 10,000 calories and Kara takes him for donuts. Winn picks up that James is jealous. Kara takes Barry to Cat’s office. She shows them the new superhero, the Flash, Barry says he’s a partner. Winn and James enter. Cat says they look like the cast of a CW show, the writing is on point! Cat comes up with the Whoosh!, the Red Blur, and finally the Blur. Barry brings up the Flash, but Cat dismisses the suggestion. Cat senses James’ jealousy. A woman at a store sees Siobhan, her aunt, Sinead (Harriet Sansom Harris) who explains that Siobhan is a banshee, cursed from sometime in Ireland. Siobhan vows to kill Kara. She has an idea of partnering with the “enemy of her enemy”. DEO, the cell of Livewire is struck by a banshee scream, shattering all of the glass. Livewire blasts the DEO agents. Kara gets a call from Lucy. She goes to warn Cat who says that Bernie Sanders is not interested in young women. Kara goes to the room and needs help from Barry. Kara says, “National City needs the Flash”! They partner up.
The Flash races into the DEO. She shows Kara’s spaceship and Flash wants a selfie. Lucy is not happy at the intrusion. A warehouse, lightning brings in Livewire, she finds a refrigerator of beer. Out of the shadows, is Siobhan, she unleashes her power, shattering the windows. Livewire says the team up is like “an evil Taylor Swift squad” lol. Lucy knows that James is jealous. They have used the lab and Barry has found Livewire at the warehouse. Winn wants to build an industrial capacitor and Barry offers to help. The two heroes race to the warehouse. Supergirl says, “For the record, I got here first.” Livewire appears, Flash encircles her, and hits her with Speed Force energy, Livewire blasts him. Supergirl is hit by Silver Banshee’s scream. Supergirl’s ears are bleeding! Siobhan appears in her new costume and horrifying make-up. Silver Banshee unleashes another scream. Supergirl and Flash unleash wind blasts and escape. Catco, Barry goes to talk to Kara, she apologizes for not having a plan. Kara tells him about the Red Kryptonite and Barry advises her to slow down since the same thing happened to him. Winn is back at his computer when James comes to ask about Kara. Cat is looking for her assistant with Winn. Livewire appears and then Silver Banshee, but Cat is not worried. Livewire blasts James. Winn tries to stop Silver Banshee and wants to help him. He blasted by her scream. DEO, Flash tells Supergirl about Pied Piper and shows her the earbuds he invented to stop him. Livewire appears on the DEO screen. They race off!
The citizens run from Livewire and Silver Banshee. Cat is on a bench, their prisoner, Livewire is going to kill her with a blast. The heroes land. Silver Banshee unleashes her scream, but the earbuds protect them. Livewire tries to blast them. Flash chases after her. Supergirl brings the handcuffs on Cat. Silver Banshee punches her. Supergirl takes a chunk of pavement, but Banshee vaporizes it. Livewire sends a blast at a helicopterr, but Supergirl blocks it and then falls. The citizens go to protect her. Livewire hovers and then Silver Banshee is also struck down by firefighters using a hose. The firefighter gives Supergirl a hand up. The Flash runs up. Catco, Kara says that the police department has a way to keep super villains. Cat knows that Barry is the Flash. On the field, Supergirl and Flash, Barry has the idea that Supergirl’s speed could throw him through the dimensional barrier. Barry tells her he also noticed James’ affection. They hug. It’s time for the race! The portal opens and the Flash is gone. Supergirl flies away. Night, Kara’s apartment, it’s James, she wants to talk about Infinite Earths. James is clueless and Kara kisses him! A super kiss! James is silent and walks away, uh-oh. Non says, “So, Myriad has been activated”! The citizens begin to walk zombie like on the streets. The best episode of Supergirl and also the best episode of The Flash! Five bars of Kryptonite and Five Flash Rings out of Ten!
