2016, The Year of Harry Potter!

Jondee here at Hogwarts,

The last book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows came out in 2007, and the last film, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 was in theaters in 2011. Then, it was all over besides some stories on Pottermore. In 2016, we had the two-part play, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, on June 7th. The story was by J.K. Rowling, playwright Jack Thorne, and the play’s John Tiffany. It follows after nineteen years from the last story, Harry’s son, Albus, and Scorpius Malfoy, the son of Draco. The best part was that we didn’t have to wait some years for the play to cross the pond, there was a new Harry Potter book!, it was on book store shelves on July 31st. I reviewed it on August 1st. The best part of 2016 was the opening of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter with the west coast Universal Studios Hollywood. We reviewed it on April 1st. It had a grand opening on April 7th, but we were there for the soft opening. I went several times since then and it is nice to get a bite to eat or to wander a bit before going to the rest of Universal Studios.

I felt assured that Fantastic Beasts was going to be a great film after watching The Legend of Tarzan which was out July 1st. To ramp up interest in Fantastic Beasts, all of the Harry Potter films were released on IMAX with some intros by the Fantastic Beasts cast. I reviewed Goblet of Fire on October 16th. The Fantastic Beasts review was posted on November 18th, the day it opened to wide release. Fantastic Beasts opens up the Harry Potter world and delve into more mature themes not just for the characters, but the world which I loved. I also love the Niffler. There was some question about J.K. Rowling screenwriting, but now that question is gone, she is compelling writing for the screen as her novels. I also wrote a comparison to the film and the original Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them book on November 23rd. The Harry Potter & Fantastic Beasts exhibit is opened at the Warner Bros. Studio Tour on December 9th. I had posted a two part review of the tour on July 27th for my birthday focusing on the new DC exhibit. You can see the upstairs room where they cluttered the Harry Potter exhibit at that time. #HarryPotterandtheCursedChild, #WizardingWorldofHarryPotter, #Niffler, #NewtScamander, #FantasticBeastsandWheretoFindThem,
