So a few days ago, April 12th, I went to the premiere of Captain America: Civil War in Hollywood. I wasn’t going as press or as guest, I was just a a fan on the rail. I had never done anything like this before and really didn’t know what I was in for. I knew I had to get there early so I arrived around six thirty in the morning. I’m glad I did. The earlier you arrive, the better a spot your going to get. If you going to go to one of these things, get there by ten or have a friend save you spot. Fair warning, no one’s going to be able to save you anything. One of the mistakes I made was not wearing comfy shoes. I went with the boots that went with my cosplay, but it really didn’t matter, no one on the red carpet can see your shoes. Why are the shoes so important? If your inside the mall leading up the to Dolby Theater, security will not let you sit. I was on my feet for fourteen hours, standing in place. The other mistake I made was bringing to much stuff. Just bring one or two things to gets signed and make sure they are easily accessible as you are getting pushed up against the four foot tall railing. The more unique your item, the more likely it is to be noticed and signed. I’m very happy I went in cosplay though, as it got me far more noticed than if I hadn’t. Many members of the cast were there, but a few weren’t. Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man) and Chris Evans (Captain America) were there, but both all but ran past the fans down the red carpet. RDJ had an insane amount of security around him. Emily van Camp (Agent 13) also didn’t stop for photos or signatures. Almost every other big names that was there that I saw did stop and sign as well as take photo including Paul Rudd (Ant Man), Anthony Mackie (Falcon), Paul Bettany (Vision), Frank Grillo (Crossbones), Don Cheadle (War Machine), and Sebastian Stan (Winter Soldier) with whom I got a selfie.

As for the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. I got signatures on my S.H.I.E.L.D. badge from Ming-Na Wen (Melina May), Elizabeth Henstridge (Jemma Simmons), Brett Dalton (Grant Ward), Nick Blood (Lance Hunter), Henry Simmons (Al ‘Mack’ Mackenzie), and Luke Mitchell (Lincoln Campbell) as well as photos. Clark Gregg (Phil Coulson), Chloe Bennett (Daisy Johnson), and Powers Boothe (Gideon Malick) who were all taking pictures and signing, but I wasn’t able to get to them. I have to give extra credit to Powers Boothe because he was one of the first down the red carpet and must have spent at least half an hour going down, taking pictures and signing things for fans. There were a couple of other big names there such as Stan Lee, Kevin Feige, Maximiliano Hernández (Jasper Sitwell), and Ed Skrein (Ajax aka Francis). I noticed a couple of comic book people I had ran into at conventions such as Todd Nauck and Rob Liefeld. The people who didn’t show up were Scarlet Johansson (Black Widow), Tom Holland (Spider-Man), Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye), Chadwick Boseman (Black Panther), and Elizabeth Olson (Scarlet Witch). The whole thing took about 90 minutes, and almost everyone was in the theater by seven thirty. Overall, I had a great time. I learned from my mistakes and will hopefully have an easier time of it should I have the opportunity to go the Doctor Strange Premiere in November. If I do, I hope to see you there.
