Disneyland 60: Part 2!

Harrison Ford came out to a standing ovation. He talked about the film going experience, describing Star Wars as “awesome”, showing the Star Wars Experience. It has the pod launching showing the futuristic city that was shown in D23. A video of the Falcon simulation. An experience with First Order stormtroopers firing at you from a platform. Ford then introduced Star Wars Live. BB-8 came out on stage to project on screen The Force Awakens. The musicians began to play the Main Theme. The hologram of Princess Leia played. This moved to Obi-Wan, Yoda, Padme, and Anakin. The music was played to Darth Vader’s theme, “The Imperial March”, while lasers fired across the theater. The Sith were shown and then back to Force Awakens music. The audience went into swaying lightsabers as the End Credits theme played. Another standing ovation.

Then, we got Little Big Town singing “Steve McQueen” at Cars Land. It was awesome to see Ginnifer Goodwin (Officer Judy Hopps) and Jason Bateman (Nick Wilde) from Zootopia. They introduced the story and showed a clip of their characters facing Mr. Big. Next, they talked about animated characters and heart. The clip showed John Lasseter. There was a recording of Inside Out and he gave a hint about Dori’s family dropped in the first film. Later, the actors were recording Frozen. Keifer Sutherland walked out in tux and glasses. He introduced the Goethe poem and then Fantasia with Gustavo Dudamel and the Los Angeles Philharmonic. They played the Sorcerer’s Apprentice piece by Paul Dukas from the film. The music is sweeping from quiet, whimsical moments to powerful basso blasts. The stunning Priyanka Chopra from Quantico came out to introduce Shanghai Disney. The most applause was for the Tron Lightcycle Power Run. It features the Storybook Castle, the largest of any park, there is a video of the Tron ride. Derek Hough closed the night with Disney’s words and then there was Sir Elton John’s performance of “Wonderful Crazy Night” while fireworks exploded behind the castle.  An impressive night of music, dancing, and some comedy.  Bring back the variety shows!
