Doctor Strange on Jimmy Kimmel Live!

Kimmel introduced Benedict Cumberbatch and tried to explain who was Doctor Strange. On a large screen was the sorcerous appearance of Stephen Strange, “wielder of the Eye of Agamotto” who “also does occasionally Bar Mitzvahs, weddings, and children’s parties.” Kimmel asks for a trick and he holds up a balloon poodle. Then, the trailer was shown, a shimmering shard and a fallen Strange, “Stephen Strange, might I offer you some advice? Forget all that you think you know.” Strange walking in what looks like Tibet. This shifts to Strange receiving from his car accident, being hauled on a hospital gurney by Rachel McAdams’ character, flashing back to when he’s getting ready for surgery. He is recovering in a hospital bed with bandaged arms and hands in a lift. The voice of the Ancient One, Tilda Swinton, says, “That reality is one of many.” New York, Tibet, the back of Chiwetel Ejiofor’s Baron Mordo walking a NY street at night. The bald Ancient One says to Strange, “Do you know what I see in your future? Possibility.” She goes Matrix and strikes Strange’s body knocking his astral form back. He sees his astral hands. It looks like Mads Mikkelsen’s character is distorting the reality of a temple. A flash of images, Mikkelsen’s character with swirling reality, the face of Ejiofor’s Mordo turning, the form of Strange falling. The skyline of New York splitting two ways Inception-style. The bearded Strange looks up at the Ancient One and implores her, “Teach me!” Then, Doctor Strange walking up to the window of his Sanctum Sanctorum.  Also on the show was Clark Gregg from Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
