MTV Awards – Suicide Squad!

Chris Pratt won for Best Action Performance, though he didn’t have the fight scenes as some of the other nominees. He had a list of action stars and wrestlers to thank. Ryan Reynolds picked up the golden popcorn for Comedic Performance as Deadpool. They had a dance party of Deadpools. The True Story winner was Straight Outta Compton which was great. Daisy Ridley won for Breakthrough Performance presented by Anna Kendrick, Zac Efron, and Adam Devine. Will Smith was given the Generation Award. He later appeared with Cara Delevingne, Margot Robbie, so I guess Suicide Squad will be a Will Smith movie not a comic book film about a team. A man ignited some fire that burst from the stage. They joined their fellow co-star Jared Leto to introduce Suicide Squad. They showed footage from the upcoming film out on August 5th.

It opens with triangular walls as a hulking figure, Killer Croc (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje) walks to a cell door. Flashes of other team members and Amanda Walker (Viola Davis) talking about assembling the squad. Harley pulls down her Daddy’s Lil Monster shirt. Rick Flag briefs the team saying, “Disobey me, you die.” Wild action with gun shots and sword swings. This is to Sweet’s “Ballroom Blitz.” Harley hears a laugh and remarks, “Uh-oh” and the Joker (Leto) walks in with black leather jacket. The Batman leaps down. Deadshot and El Diablo (Jay Hernandez) argue and then he sends out flames from his hands. Harley serves the team drinks. El Diablo says he wants water.  Harley says, “That’s a good idea.”
