Star Wars: Canon Timeline

The dating system for Star Wars in the Expanded Universe was BBY (Before the Battle of Yavin) and ABY (After the Battle of Yavin). This is unusual in that the Battle of Yavin is not a pivotal event in the history of the galaxy, it is for the Rebellion, but not the galaxy. There is the Rise of the Empire, the Imperial reign would be short, and also the Old Republic. Maybe a start date could be the founding of the Old Republic or even the founding of the New Republic. It seems like the official Keeper of the Holocron, Leland Chee, has placed things with a 0 year with The Phantom Menace. The Obi-Wan & Anakin comic takes place in year 3, Attack of the Clones year 10, and Clone Wars lasts from 10 to 12 with Season 6. Dark Disciple, the novel, goes from 12 to 13. The comic book, Darth Maul: Son of Dathomir, is on 12 and Kanan: The Last Padawan #7, the comic book, occurs in 13. Revenge of the Sith is on 13. We also get Kanan: Last Padawan on 13, he continues on #3 from 13-14, and #4-5 on 14. The short story, “Orientation” that was in Star Wars Insider #157 takes place before Lords of the Sith novel on 18 as well as the novel Tarkin. A New Dawn, the novel by John Jackson Miller, is on 21 (this introduces Rae Sloane). “The Journals of Old Ben Kenobi” begin with Star Wars #7 on 21. The Lost Stars novel by Claudia Gray occurs before, during, and after the Original Trilogy from 21 to 37. Kenobi’s story continues in Star Wars #15 and #20 on 22. The story of Imperial cadet, Zare Leonis, is covered in Servants of the Empire: Edge of the Galaxy on 26 to 27. Battlefront: Twilight Company has events before and during Empire Strikes Back starting in 26.
The intro novel to Star Wars: Rebels, Ezra’s Gamble is on 27 and the first season is on 27 (5 years before ANH). Episode 10 is on 28. Servants of the Empire: The Secret Academy is on 28. Then, we get Star Wars: Rebels, “Fire Across the Galaxy”, followed by The Siege of Lothal, and season 2. Episode 10, “A Princess on Lothal”, is on 29 to the finale, “Twilight of the Apprentice.” Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is on 32 as is A New Hope (19 years after RoTS). The comic book, Star Wars: Princess Leia, issue 1 is on 32, followed by Smuggler’s Run: A Han Solo & Chewbacca Adventure, then the next issues of Princess Leia. The Star Wars: Chewbacca comic is on 32 as well as the novel, Heir to the Jedi, and The Weapon of a Jedi: A Luke Skywalker Adventure. Star Wars #5-6, the only part of the comics that I consider important for SW when Boba Fett discovers Luke destroyed the Death Star, is on 32. Empire Strikes Back is on 35 (3 years after ANH). The novel, Moving Target: A Princess Leia Adventure, is on 36. We also get Return of the Jedi on 36 (1 year after ESB). “Blade Squadron”, a short story appearing in Star Wars Insider #149 occurs at the same time as RoTJ. A story about Rae Sloane in the Battle of Endor was in “The Levers of Power” in the Rise of the Empire anthology. After the battle, is the Star Wars: Shattered Empire comic book, also on 36, followed but the second part of “Blade Squadron: Zero Hour” in Star Wars Insider #150. The novel, Aftermath, is on 36, followed by the mobile game, Star Wars: Uprising, and then there is Aftermath: Life Debt. Also on 36, is “Blade Squadron: Kuat” in Star Wars: Insider #168. Then, we get the last of the Aftermath trilogy with Aftermath: Empire’s End on 37 as well as “Blade Squadron: Jakku” in an upcoming Star Wars: Insider. The Battle of Jakku, on 37, is at the end of the Lost Stars novel. On 60, we get the Bloodline novel dealing with Leia Organa, then Before the Awakening on 66. The Poe Dameron comic book takes place on 66 as well as The Force Awakens (30 years after RoTJ).
