Supergirl, “Hostile Takeover”, Review!

The Winter Finale brings the confrontation with Supergirl and her Kryptonian aunt, General Astra. Supergirl frees herself and brings out a Kryptonite knife from the DEO, but Astra is immune, shielded with a suit. Supergirl returns to the DEO, Alex tells her sister to leave Astra to Hank. On the news, Catco is hacked with the Daily Planet publishing embarrasing facts on Cat. She sends away her lawyers. Kara enters and tells her boss to fight. Cat wants Kara to check all of her emails with help from Jimmy and that “Handsome Hobbit”, Win (LOL). Astra meets with her lieutenant who questions her. At the DEO, Alex spars with Supergirl in the Kryptonite room which puts them on equal terms, but Supergirl throws Alex down. They trade punches and Supergirl flips Alex. Her sister is worried that she is not prepared to kill. Krypton, young kara sees Astra who is worried about the death of Krypton. Her mother, Alura, enters and sends away her daughter. Jimmy has uncovered her funding Jekyll and Hyde the Musical and Cat’s audition for Undercover Boss.
The board wants to send Cat on a sabbatical. Kara meets with Cat after the meeting, she super hears Armstrong (Peter Mackenzie) talking, the board chairman setting Cat up. Later, Kara meets with Jimmy and Win. They meet with Lucy to check legal procedure. On the news, is a super powered woman, Supergirl flies above the street to face Astra and unleashes her heat vision. They fight and are thrown through a building, debris starts to fall towards the citizens. Supergirl catches rubble and throws it at Astra. They reach the ground, and Supergirl throws punches, she holds back with a final blow. She is no Emo Superman. Win has a plan to plant a spyware device on Armstrong’s computer with Kara using her x-ray vision to lookout while Jimmy plants the spyware. Jimmy is caught by Armstrong, but says he will support Armstrong. Kara gets a call from Alex, Astra will only talk with her. At her cell, Astra mentions her betrayal of the High Council. Krypton, Alura is angry that Astra had Non kill a guard. Two guards are there to take her to the Phantom Zone. She says that Earth is in the same situation as Krypton. Supergirl goes to her mother’s hologram to find that she was used to setup Astra. Alex hugs her. Catco, Kara meets with Jimmy and Win, Jimmy has found a payment from cat for an Adam Foster in Opal City. This is another DCU city that was introduced in Starman #0 (1994). Kara confronts Cat that Adam Foster is her son.
On the news, Cat is going to reveal the hack, Cat tells Kara, “you always have a job with me.” Jimmy, Lucy, and Win bring Cat a paper. Cat is not happy about getting help from Lois Lane’s sister. Cat has Kara to stop the press conference and brings in Armstrong. He shows her the paper. Cat has it all over Armstrong, he used Catco’s computer, and has security arrest Armstrong and take him away. Jimmy apologizes to Win and says he didn’t realize how much Win likes Kara. Win is worried about telling her. “If I were you, I would risk it.” At DEO, Alex thinks that Astra lost on purpose. Hank reveals that he can read minds. They go to talk with Astra in her cell. It was a distraction. Kryptonians break into a building. Cat is celebrating calling Kara her “guardian angel.” Cat has suspicions about Kara’s hearing, her sickness and recovery when Supergirl returned, and Livewire. She wants Kara to take off her glasses. Cat thanks Supergirl! Kara gets a phone call, Alex says theta Lord Technologies is under attack. Lord fires a rifle that brings down one Kryptonian. Tehy begin to use their powers to take down Lord’s security guards. Hank is there and hits a Kryptonian with a Krytponite ray. Alex is faced with a Kryptonian leader when Supergirl takes him on. He reveals that he is Non (Chris Vance), Astra’s husband!, and they fly toward each other! Five Kryptonite bars out of Five!
