The DC Universe is set apart from our world with cities out of the imagination. Which means that anything can happen. The Marvel Universe is centered around New York City with invasions by aliens, demons, Atlanteans, and subterranean peoples that can be a stretch. One of the books laying out the DC Universe was the Atlas of the DC Universe published by Mayfair Games in 1990. On the west coast is Star City, the home of Green Arrow, found in California. In comics, it first appeared in More Fun Comics #73 (1941). The show, Arrow, which started in 2012 has Star (changed from Starling) City as the setting. National City is also in California. It is the city of Supergirl, and the location of Catco. It is a new addition to the DC universe and of course the setting of the Supergirl tv series. National City found its way to comic book form in the Adventures of Supergirl adaptation and also into the DCU with Supergirl: Rebirth #1. Central City’s first appearance was Showcase #4 (1956) which of course featured the Flash. The city is located in Missouri across the Missouri River from Keystone City, Kansas. The city was featured in The Flash tv series that ran from 1990 to 1991. The Iron Heights prison first appeared in Flash: Iron Heights (2001). The prison was found in Keystone City. It was seen in the Arrow and The Flash tv series. Smallville is a city in Kansas that first appeared in More Fun Comics #101 (1945). The town showed up on film with the 1978 Superman movie. It was of course the focus of the tv show, Smallville, which ran from 2001 to 2011.
