Antoine Fuqua, who directed last year’s Southpaw, is back with the Magnificent Seven. This western is a remake of the John Sturges film with Yul Brynner (Chris Adams), Steve McQueen (Vin Tanner), and Charles Bronson (Bernardo O’Reilly) among the seven. The poster for the new film shows the seven with Denzel Washington (Chisolm, the bounty hunter) who starred in Fuqua’s The Equalizer (2014) and also Training Day (2001), Chris Pratt (Josh Faraday, the gambler), and Ethan Hawke (Goodnight Robincheaux the sharpshooter) also from Training Day with the other seven. This is a diverse cast of tough guys which includes Vincent D’Onofrio (Jack Horne the hunter), Byung-hun Lee (Billy Rocks the assassin), Manuel Garcia-Rulfo (Vasquez the outlaw), and Martin Sensmeier (Red Harvest the warrior). This is a new group of characters comparing to the original gunslingers. This is the last score by James Horner. The seven ride again on September 23rd.

Here’s the press release description:
Director Antoine Fuqua brings his modern vision to a classic story in Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures’ and Columbia Pictures’ The Magnificent Seven.  With the town of Rose Creek under the deadly control of industrialist Bartholomew Bogue (Peter Sarsgaard), the desperate townspeople, led by Emma Cullen (Haley Bennett), employ protection from seven outlaws, bounty hunters, gamblers and hired guns – Sam Chisolm (Denzel Washington), Josh Farraday (Chris Pratt), Goodnight Robicheaux (Ethan Hawke), Jack Horne (Vincent D’Onofrio), Billy Rocks (Byung-Hun Lee), Vasquez (Manuel Garcia-Rulfo), and Red Harvest (Martin Sensmeier).  As they prepare the town for the violent showdown that they know is coming, these seven mercenaries find themselves fighting for more than money.
