I had double duty going from the Los Angeles Comic Convention to Gallery Nucleus in Alhambra. This was for the Travis Knight, the head of LAIKA, signing so it was worth it. The deal was to purchase an item would get you into the signing, I picked up The Art of Kubo and the Two-Strings. On going is the Laika 10th Anniversary Exhibition which will be up until November 13th, it’s free! You can tour the bottom floor which has fan art. There was found objects incorporated into the artwork, different styles, it’s brilliant! We patiently waited in line, all Laika fans, and then were treated to a visit by Kubo and Monkey. I think they were the same from Universal Studios. Then, we waited to go up the stairs to the gallery and signing. There was artwork from Kubo and the Two-Strings along the walls, the art work is stunning, and also some of the figures used in the movie. Travis Knight took some pics with a young cosplayer dressed as Kubo and The Sisters. They were popular in line. He was as always nice and I told him that Kubo was the right film for him to direct. Everyone had time to see the gallery and downstairs there was the fan art gallery and a live performance of shamisen music by Tsugaru Terry. I think Halloween was being celebrated there and a line was still down the building after the signing. Thanks to everyone at Gallery Nucleus. Also, remember there is an Art of Kubo and the Two-Strings signing at Gallery Nucleus. This is next week, on Saturday, November 5th. It is a ticketed event so you can purchase tickets at the Gallery Nucleus website, VIP is currently sold out. I didn’t know this, but I did get a general admission ticket. Hope to see everyone there!
