Elena of Avalor Premiere!

The Disney Channel animated series is set to debut this Friday and a Los Angeles premiere was held with cast at the Paley Center on July 16th. They included the creator and executive producer of the show, Craig Gerber, the princess herself, Elena, played by Aimee Carrero, Jillian Rose Reed plays Naomi, Danny Trejo (Antonio Agama), Yvette Nicole Brown plays Luna, Lou Diamond Phillips who plays Victor Delgado, Constance Marie (Dona Paloma), Chris Parnell who plays Migs. At the red carpet, Carrero said about the role, “There like a few little girls dressed in Elena costumes that will never get old for me.” It was also her birthday and they celebrated around an Elena cake. Phillips said, “Elena is a very positive role model.” Trejo also spoke about voicing the character, “For me, it’s so much fun because I’m so used to playing other characters that they can’t watch.” Brown said, “This means so much to me because this is the first Latina Disney princess. I remember when Princess and the Frog came out and it was the first African American princess I know what that meant to my community so I can only imagine what it will mean to the Latina girls so I’m so excited to be a part of it.” Here’s the press release:

inspired by diverse Latin cultures and folklore, at a screening held at The Paley Center for Media in Beverly Hills on July 16. The series premieres FRIDAY, JULY 22 (7:00 p.m., ET/PT) on Disney Channel.
