The mystery of C-3PO’s red arm from The Force Awakens is finally revealed in this comic book that was delayed from February. It has hit the comic book stands with the Starman team of James Robinson and Tony Harris. The artwork has the thick lines of an independent comic, but little of the Star Wars action or atmosphere. The comic abruptly opens with a crash landing of a ship with a number of droids since the crew including Captain Hoff did not survive the crash. This includes C-3PO, now a droid communication chief for the Resistance, Peezee-Ninety-Nine, the same droid as PZ-4CO, who was a blue protocol droid in The Force Awakens, See-Oh Three Four, a construction droid, TooMedToo, a medical droid, Vee-El Forty-Four, a security droid, and Omri, the RA-7 protocol droid (with the insectoid head) prisoner who knows the location of Admiral Ackbar captured by the First Order. Robinson keeps the various droids individual and interesting. Still, there is no title roll up that explains the time period, the conflict between the First Order and the Resistance, or even the name of the planet the droids have to survive on. They face spice spiders, a tentacled creature that rips off C-3PO’s arm, and insect-like Can-cells that reduce their numbers until it only Omri and C-3PO. The duo reaches two crashed TIE fighters and Omri sacrifices himself in acid rain to activate the distress signal. It also happens to turn his arm red. Poe arrives with a ship and C-3PO keeps the red arm in honor of the droids that sacrificed themselves. Three Lightsabers out of Five!
