Straight Out Of Compton Blu Ray DVD Review

During a time before the Internet and Napster and the ability to download music NWA was a group that was spreading virally via mixtapes handed off from friend to friend spreading through the streets of LA like wildfire! Growing up in LA during this time music was a big influence on my brothers and I who were living in the very streets where violence was common and the authorities were as feared as the thugs they are paid to protect us from. From the Crips and the Bloods street battle to the Rodney King Riots, the lower middle class of Los Angeles in the late 80’s and early 90’s was a time where you could cut the social tension in the air and you could be shot for the color of your shows. F. Gary Gray directs a talented cast and captures the personal struggles the young group of friends suddenly thrust into  level of fame never seen before!

Straight  out of Compton shows us the behind the scenes drama with rise of one of the most notorious and outspoken rap groups in US history,NWA! During a pivotal social change in Los Angeles NWa’s impact on the people was immediate and relevant. They were the people’s voice against an oppressive police force and a society growing tired of the abuse and not being heard.
Straight out of Compton gives an inside view to the struggle and the relationships of the band members and those who tried to help and hurt the group of lifelong friends from the ghettos of LA. Produced by Dre and Ice Cube and starring the son of Ice Cube himself, O’Shea Jackson,Jr., straight Outta Compton is one of the best biography band movies ever made and worth re-watching.
