Supergirl,”Survivors”, Review!

Flashback, Daxam, the world is being torn apart by meteorites out of its red skies, Mon-El finds a Kryptonian ship with the Prince of Daxam (Ben Sullian) who sends him away while he shares their fate. J’onn leaves and Supergirl and Alex go to a call by Maggie Sawyer to see a murdered alien. Kara goes to tell the story to Snapper, but he rejects her incomplete story. J’onn returns to the bar and talks with M’gann who tells him she was in the internment camp by the White Martians. She escaped with the help of a female White Martian three hundred years ago. J’onn wants to take the Bond with M’gann, but she’s busy. Winn is with Mon-El as Alex asks about the quill from the dead alien. Alex and Maggie go to arrest the alien (Ian Casselberry), but his quill knocks out Maggie and he escapes. At the DEO, Alex is debriefed by J’onn with Supergirl. He tells them about M’gann and explains the Bond is a psychic connection. Supergirl reports to the encoring of her mother (it’s great to see Laura Benanti again). Mon-El walks in and Supergirl is annoyed. He calls her mother a “babe” a term he learned from Winn. Maggie calls Alex about a tip. They put on masks and Maggie leads Alex into a club. Maggie explains it is the wealthiest members of National City. In walks in Roulette (Dichen Lachmann) who first appeared in JSA Secret Files #2 (2001). She appeared in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Dollhouse. Roulette introduces Quill to the ring to fight M’gann called Miss Martian by Roulette. They fight, M’gann knocks him around the ring. Supergirl lands in the ring, Roulette introduces Draaga (John DeSantis) He appeared in Adventures of Superman #454 (1989). He knocks down Supergirl and Alex drives him away with a DEO pistol.
At the DEO, Supergirl is recovering, J’onn is not happy at the club, Supergirl tells him about M’gann. He walks off. Mon-El is tested by Winn, no heat vision, who tells him he can be a superhero. Kara reports to Snapper about the fight club, but he wants a source. Mon-El is drinking with Winn at a bar, they down beers, fun scene! J’onn phases into M’gann’s apartment, she doesn’t want to remember Mars. Supergirl’s heat vision burns Roulette’s car to a stop. Roulette is confident that her operation is safe when no one cares about aliens. Roulette walks away. Supergirl is frustrated telling Alex at the DEO about Roulette, Winn is recovering from his drunk episode, J’onn is not happy at Mon-El and Winn’s night out. Supergirl talks to Mon-El who covers for Winn, she tells about her junior prom shattering the toes of her date. They bond together, Mon-El talks about fighting Draaga on Warworld, and that he was wounded on the leg. Warworld was introduced in DC Comics Presents #27 (1980). J’onn talks to M’gann and is shocked unconscious by Roulette’s men. Supergirl finds from Alex that J’onn is missing, she heads to the club. Supergirl finds that the fight club is gone. Kara barges into Lena Luthor’s office, asks about Roulette, Lena gives her the location. The fight club, Roulette is riling up the crowd, a fight between the last Green Martians. They are in their human forms, M’gann hits J’onn, and transform back into Martians to fight. They transform back when J’onn is knocked down. Roulette brings in Draaga. Alex and Maggie bring in the police. Supergirl takes on Draaga seeing his leg break with x-ray vision, she kicks his leg, and knocks him out. Supergirl calls off the officers and aliens. Alex arrests Roulette and Supergirl finds that Maggie has to let Roulette go. Maggie kisses her date leaving Alex. Kara turns in her story, she says her source is Supergirl, but Snapper takes it. Supergirl goes to talk to Mon-El and tells him she will teach him to use his powers. M’gann meets with J’onn, he says he will be around, M’gann transforms into a White Martian! Four Bars of Kryptonite out of Five!
