Villains for Avengers in Marvel Phase Four and Beyond!
Jondee here on Battleworld,
The Avengers movies start with Avengers: Infinity War on May 2018 and the final film is to be released on May 2019. After the Infinity War, what villain could follow Thanos? It seemed to be a question on Marvel fan minds, what villain would on the level of Thanos or stronger? The question is not phrased well, just look at the stable of Marvel villains. The easiest one is a super villain group led by Baron Zemo. The Masters of Evil first appeared in Avengers #6 (1964) by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. Zemo (Daniel Bruhl in Captain America: Civil War) could assemble the Masters of Evil with the possibly Skurge (Karl Urban from Thor: Ragnarok if he survives), Abomination (Tim Roth from Incredible Hulk, maybe recast), Enchantress (possibly a new actor), and I would like to see Black Knight (newly cast actor) who works for the Masters and then betrays them to become an Avenger. The line-up would change with whatever Avengers survive the Infinity War. This would be on the level of Avengers bringing in actors from different films into one except on a villain level.
The first villain I thought of as a follow up was Kang the Conqueror, he first appeared as Kang in Avengers #8 (1964) by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. The villain is tied to the Avengers, but has a connection to the Fantastic Four. Kang is encased in battle armor, but otherwise is a normal human. He is one of the Avengers greatest foes and not only looks to conquer the world and the universe, but time. He’s a time traveler, so he could go back into the past of the Avengers and face the team at each pivotal moment. The Avengers could also go back in time and meet with the Two Gun Kid, the Phantom Eagle, and even the Howling Commandos. Third option, Secret Wars, some entity maybe one of Celestials or the Grandmaster (played by Jeff Goldblum in Thor: Ragnarok) sets up the battle world and steals the Avengers and maybe some other heroes to face villains. Secret Wars was a company wide crossover that spun out of the twelve issue limited series by Jim Shooter and Mike Zeck. Note that Kang is one of the villains sent to Battle world. Also Ultron and the Enchantress. Maybe it’s the Masters of Evil again. Definitely Spider-Man (Tom Holland) would be there and possibly finds the symbiote to form his black costume, leading of course to Venom! Spider-Man may be young to be on the front lines of Infinity War, he wasn’t in the comics, but he would be old enough by the time of Secret Wars. The Beyonder should be left out with this adaptation. Any or all of these could make up Marvel Phase Four, Five, and Six.
